Who We Are
Bridges Community Action Partnership is a private nonprofit community action agency dedicated to helping and serving low-income individuals and families in Champaign, Delaware, Logan, Madison, Shelby and Union counties. Bridges helps improve the lives of individuals and families by providing a variety of programs and assistance with utilities, home improvement, work resources, safe housing, financial education, and medical needs.
Where We Came From
Bridges was established as a community action agency in 1965 as a result of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964—part of President Johnson’s War on Poverty. There are community action agencies in all 88 counties in Ohio, and there are over 1,000 agencies across the nation.
Funding for our services and operations is derived from competitive federal, state, local, and private grants. Bridges administers the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) for our service area, which provides administrative and operational funding, client outreach, information and referral services, and emergency services. Other funding sources include the Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP), the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), local United Ways, private foundations, utility companies, and donations.
Bridges has 501(c)3 tax-exempt status from the IRS. Bridges’ Union County customer service center located in Marysville, Ohio, and we operate customer service centers in each of the counties we serve.
